_Ria Sarathi

_Hello, my name is Ria Sarathi.

_This is my portfolio website.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself:
I am an interdisciplinary designer, currently living in London.
I like to expand my creative expression mainly through
- UX/UI Design
- Graphic Design
- Illustration
But in general, what I am interested in, is the visual culture of our society and being keen to explore different ways to display my abilities through my own creative ways.

Apart from that, in my free time, I like to read feminist-dystopian books and dream of jelly fish. :)

_WORK_

_Interaction feature - Spotify

_UX DESIGN - UI DESIGN
_Task: Design a way to address the negative impacts of consumer facing applications, services or platforms.

For this brief, I chose to design an interation tool for the music streaming tool Spotify. The idea was to improve the social interaction element, which is to share music with your friends on the app instead of sharing it through a different application e.g., WhatsApp. The aim was to create more engagement on the platform, but not stray away too much from the apps essential use.
Through various rounds of user research on Spotify Community, prototyping on Adobe XD and user testing in London,a limited music sharing tool was developed.

This tool will enable the user to:
_Send song/albums/playlists etc.
_Open joint playlists with other users
_React to received music via Emoticons

This brief gave me the apportunity to create a realistic product, creating a fitting user guide, flow and report.

_C.Y.B. - Create your body

_UX DESIGN - GRAPHIC DESIGN
_Task: How could design look like in 2121?

This is a collaborative project made with other interdisciplinary designers coming from graphic design and illustration background.
We created a hypothetical digital company website, which is called C.Y.B.- which means "Creat your body". The websites' aim would be to modify the human body in the form of scanning your medical files and replacing 'weak' body parts with 'functional' prosthetics.

My role as an UX designer, was to come up with the website prototype. The aim was to make it a sleek, minimalistic and futuristic product. It was a very intersecting process, as every team member contributed to every design decision. I had the opportunity to learn about different creative thought procedures which his resulted in a thought through and innovative vision of a website, made on Adobe XD.

_Bland Spaces

_ILLUSTRATION
Empty and quiet spaces reiterated in a series of illustrations. How can we perceive a space in a way of disorientation? A range of visions of places that either might or might not exist. In-between spaces that need to be filled by our minds.

Made on Adobe Illustrator.

_Femininity On The Internet

_UX DESIGN - DATA VISUALIZATION
_Topic: Can people fully express their feminity in a digital space?

What started with an inspiring conversation with a group of peers, triggered a thorough investigation into the topic of feminity on the internet, which lead to an interactive data visualisation.

To understand the broad experience of people who want to express their femininity online, a survey was created with over 150 participants. Additionally, to get more in-depth knowledge, multiple interviews were conducted with people of all backgrounds.

With that data, an illustrated visualisation was created, which lead to the installation.
The piece is made on a canvas, the answers to the question represented by flowers on the canvas. Important quotes of the interviews are printed on fabrics pieces, which are embroidered onto the rim of the canvas.

Working with and through other people gave me a whole different perspective of design. Having the privilege of getting so much personal insight on this topic opened up my ambitions of what I want to design and who I want to design for.

Made for exhibitional purposes.
